What Is Nature And Nurture Sample – Term Paper

Difference between nature and nurture

There is a great debate between nature and nurture on which of the two has a great impact on human behavior. Of the two, it is inarguable and clear that nature has everything to do with inherited characteristics through the genes from parents, thus the common saying ‘like dad like son’. On the other hand, nurture includes the influence of environment and surroundings since childhood. Many people argue that the way we are brought up determines a lot on how we behave. However, it can equally be argued that the mix of nature and nurture determines the behavior of an individual.

More importantly, the characters that we inherit from our parents have a higher room for influencing the behavior of an individual. This is because you can not alter the genetic composition of a person. Unlike the environmental factors that can be changed or avoided, genes and genetics remain permanent and fixed.

Nurture involves learning from the environment in which an individual interacts in thus becomes adaptive to it. Character and language are learned from the surrounding in which a person is brought up in. Nurture can influence accent from friends, and or parents because of the time spent together while learning to speak on exactly how they do.This might not be the same case if we consider animals.

undeniably,  I believe both nature and nurture have a large influence on human behavior on a balanced scale although I trust that people have different opinions over the same because the situation and environment in which people are varies. Human beings have the capacity of changing their behavior at any point in their lives, therefore it is difficult to argue that either has the highest influence.
