Finance and Banking
Cloud computing reduces the need for separate banking portals and/or client databases for the different locations of its services. This is advantageous because it enables faster, clearer and safer business. However, the financial sector is slow to adapt cloud computing. This so because of the large amounts of money transacted each day, this means that a cloud computing platform should be able to address this sectors’ security and reliability concerns. However, in the recent past, financial institutions have started to gain some level of appreciation for cloud-based services since it enables them to achieve agility at a relatively lower cost.
Many of financial institutions are either planning to or already have implemented some form of private clouds for sensitive costumer data and are making use of public clouds for other essential services. However, as cloud computing matures and becomes more reliable, it is expected that this will drive an increasing adoption of cloud solutions tailor made to achieve core services and improve cost efficiency (Marston, 2011).
Therefore, it is clear that in as much business organizations tend to be skeptical about adopting cloud technologies, it can prove to be a very useful tool that steers the organizations towards higher levels of efficiency.
Increased Adoption of Hybrid Clouds
more and more organizations are beginning to appreciate the huge benefits that come with cloud computing, more so hybrid clouds. This therefore means that these clouds are beginning to shift more towards utilizing hybrid cloud strategies and with time, hybrid clouds will begin to become more preferred public and private clouds
the reason for this new trend is that hybrid clouds are able to offer a variety of benefits. One key benefit is its ability to provide the user with the experiences offered in both the public and private clouds. Furthermore, with hybrid cloud computing the user is able to have and enjoy the security that come with private clouds while still being able to achieve the huge cost savings that are brought about by the relatively larger economies of scale that are associated with public cloud computing.
Most organizations have also began to realize that hybrid systems are much more flexible as compared to the other cloud computing alternatives in terms of coping with the high demand of both individual and organizational needs hybrid computing is also more flexible in terms of providing solutions to the many requirements associated with running different applications. Hybrid cloud provide the user the opportunity to maximize server usage whilst still keeping the cost affordably low. It is able to do this while still allowing the user to keep sensitive data on private servers. So it is expected that more and more SME’s and start-ups will begin to adopt a hybrid cloud in the coming years. (Chima, 2016)
Increased Adoption of Container Technologies
Container technologies can in simple terms be described as modern day tools that enable an organization to maximize the efficiency of utilizing the available resources especially when the most prudent approach to run multiple applications on entire Operating Systems.
This new mindset has led to new developments in cloud service known as ‘Containers-as-a-Service (CaaS)’ cloud service. With the adoption of this new technology taking place at unprecedented levels, more research is expected to be carried out in order to offer organizations better value for money and encourage better utilization of this new service. Let us expound more on the idea of containerization. In this setup, each container can be looked at as a type of Operating System in a virtual environment capable of providing the required amount of resources that are needed to run an application the advantage of these containers is that they are able to provide these resources without conflicting with the other applications and containers that were currently running on the same device. This therefore considerably eliminates the problem of one application using an entire Operating System to run.
So what is the future of container technologies? The future of container technologies is that there will be an increasing growth in its adoption and utilization. This can be attributed to the fact that the container as a service (CaaS) is considered much more efficient as compared to virtualization of hardware. Furthermore, containers are much more efficient in utilizing both memory and CPU usage. Therefore, it is expected that container technologies would become an increasing trend in the years to come (Chima, 2016) .
Continuous Delivery
DevOps teams can now have a reason to smile this is because cloud services are expected to increase the support for continuous delivery systems. This is advantageous to DevOps teams mainly because continuous delivery provides a basis from where applications can be continuously updated from the backend platforms and the same time still be continuously delivered to the users when and where they need it.
Another key advantage is that continuous delivery is able to perform all this operation even while the application is still being used by the consumer without the consumer without actually realizing what is actually happening. Furthermore, what makes continuously delivery a useful technology is that whereas other online applications are continuously increasing in complexity of increases, so does the need for new updates on either a daily basis or in some even multiple times daily. Continuous delivery is able to ensure that these updates reach the consumer at all times when they are required.
In summary continuous delivery offers the benefits of a more engaged user fraternity as well as an increase in overall performance of the application. Furthermore, continuous delivery helps DevOps teams to reduce the time required to resolve bug issues as well as to reduce the repetitiveness of certain tasks (Linthicum, 2015)
The Ease of Moving Data into Clouds.
The improvements in cloud computing technologies means that moving data to cloud storage is becoming as easier by the day. Newer user friendly Self-service techniques have applied in operations of data integration and preparation are expected to be on a steady incline in the years to come.
Simpler methods for moving data from organizations and web platforms into dedicated cloud systems are continuously being developed. Smith says. The new improvements in self-service techniques have enabled operations such as cloud analysis and data preparations to become an ever increasing reality. Also key to this new development is that an individual with little or no technical background will soon be able to transfer data from his or her user platform and into a cloud system faster and easily. This so because this system offers solutions that are mainly aimed at reducing the complexity cloud operations that include of data staging, integration and transformation (Chima, 2016).
