Critical Evaluation of the Role of Mans 5 Executive Summary This report provides a comparative analysis of the role of multinational companies all over the world. All of the multinational companies are doing business almost in every countries. But now a days they are being attracted to the developing countries because of various reasons including natural resources, cheap labor, less production cost, increasing demand etc. Their business is causing different problems as well as benefits. The report finds the beneficiary activities provided by multinational companies to the host countries.

It also finds the illegal activities performed by the litigation companies to the host countries. The beneficiary activities include Economic Growth and Employment. 0 Skills, Production Techniques and Improvements in the Quality of Human Capital. 0 Availability of Quality Goods and Services in the Host Country. Negative role played by the multinational companies include, 0 Employment might not be as extensive as hoped. 0 Competition from Mans affects local industry adversely. 0 Pollution and environmental damage. Exploitation of poor policy and government regulation. The report has been prepared based on the articles and writings of different authors. So due to different views and attitudes, this report might suffer from some limitation. A firm’s advantages in establishing itself multinational include both vertical and horizontal economies of scale (reductions in cost that result from an expanded level of output). Critics usually regard the multinational corporation as destructive of local economies abroad and as prone to monopolistic practices. A multinational corporation (NC) or multinational enterprise (MEN) is a corporation that is registered in more than one country or that has operations in more than one country. It is a large corporation which both produces and sells goods or services in various countries.

It can also be referred to as an international corporation. It plays an important role in globalization. The first multinational company was the British East India Company, founded in 1600. The second multinational corporation was the Dutch East India Company, founded March 20, 1602. Nearly all major multinationals are American, Japanese or Western European, such as Nikkei, Coca-Cola, Wall-Mart, AOL, Toshiba, Honda and BMW. Advocates of multinationals say they create Jobs and wealth and improve technology in countries that are in need of such development.

On the other hand, critics say multinationals can have undue political influence over governments, can exploit developing nations as well as create Job losses in their own home countries. There are four categories of multinational corporations: 1) A multinational, decentralized corporation with strong home country presence. ) A global, centralized corporation that acquires cost advantage through centralized production wherever cheaper resources are available. 3) An international company that builds on the parent corporation’s technology or R&D.

According to UN data, some 35,000 companies have direct investment in foreign countries, and the largest 100 of them control about 40 percent of world trade. About TNT Multinational Corporation, business enterprise with manufacturing, sales, or service bestiaries in one or more foreign countries, also known as a Transnational or International Corporation. These corporations originated early in the 20th century and proliferated after World War II.

Typically, a multinational corporation develops new products in its native country and manufactures them abroad, often in Third World nations, thus gaining trade advantages and economies of labor and materials. Almost all the largest multinational firms are American, Japanese, or West European. Such corporations have had worldwide influence?over other business entities and even over governments, many of which have imposed controls on them. During the last two decades of the 20th century, many smaller corporations also became multinational, some of them in developing nations.

Proponents of such enterprises maintain that they create employment, create wealth, and improve technology in countries that are in dire need of such development. Critics, however, point to their inordinate political influence, their exploitation of developing nations, and the loss of jobs those results in the corporations’ home countries. Both maintain management headquarters in one country, known as the home country, and operate in several other countries, known as host countries.

They are also considered as main drivers of the local economy, government policies, environmental and political lobbying. 3. An NC have investment in other countries, but do not have coordinated product offerings in each country. It is more focused on adapting their products and service to each individual local market. A TNT, on the other hand, have invested in foreign operations, have a central corporate facility but give decision-making, R and marketing powers to each individual foreign market.
