This is a course designed to expose participants in the MBA and Online MBA programs to essential theories and concepts for analyzing, understanding, and managing human behavior in organizations. In this course, concrete organizational situations from case studies are applied to essential theories and effective management practices. In this class, participants will learn how to thrive at work by managing their relationships. Not only will they investigate human factors that influence organizational performance, but also organizational factors that influence individual and group behavior. Participant Learning Time (SALT) Total Participant Learning Time (SALT) Face to Face Lectures Total Guided and Independent Learning 126 hours 39 hours 87 hours Credit Value: 03 Prerequisites: No prerequisites for this course Learning Outcome After successful completion of this course, participants should be able to: LOL : Illustrate knowledge of organizational behavior concepts, theories, and phenomena concerning individuals, groups, and the organization (POI) (CA) ALL: Synthesize practical and technical tools for evaluating organizational factors that influence individual and group behavior as well as human factors that influence organizational performance (PEP) (PA) ALL: Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal and communication skills by incorporating ethics, values, and attitudes in decision making, problem solving, etc. (PEP, PEP) (AH) ALL: Practice social skills, team building, and other organizational behavior techniques by incorporating ethics, values, and attitudes at the individual, group, and organizational levels in actual work setting (PEP, PEP) (AH) Note Participants are given clear guidelines as to expected outcomes and objectives of each topic, thereby being made aware of their responsibility in undertaking the squired reading and additional work requirements for each topic.

This promotes an understanding of the principles in each topic and is an important part of the learning process. Transferable Skills This course is aimed to ensure participants could appreciate, experience, and have knowledge on the principles, theories, concepts, practices, interpretations, techniques, strategies, and issues of Management and Organizational Behavior which are essential for business leaders as well as entrepreneurs. The course will also enhance the participants’ confidence to explain and develop heir skills in analyzing and interpreting organizational behavior particularly in the context of the organization’s human capital, its leadership, and its culture. It then applies that knowledge to make organizations work more effectively. We all hold generalizations about the behavior of people. Some of our generalizations may provide valid insights into human behavior, but many are erroneous. Organizational Behavior uses systematic study to improve predictions of behavior that would be made from intuition alone. But, because people are different, we need to look at B in a contingency framework, using situational variables to moderate cause-effect relationships.

This course is designed to give participants an understanding of attitudes and behavior of individuals and groups in all types of organizations and as to how organizations, simple or complex, are structured and patterned to achieve their goals.
