Huawei always used licensed version software. Basically computer software is divided into three parts. • System software • Programming software • Application software 3. 2. 1 Operating System: Huawei is using Microsoft windows XP & Microsoft Windows 2003 Operating system. Both are licensed and customized version.

Huawei is using Microsoft XP and Microsoft windows 2003 because of security purpose. Microsoft specially designed these operating systems only for Huawei Technologies Ltd. There are some difference between Huawei customized operating system and general operating system. The main difference between this two, Huawei customized operating system is much more secure than the general version. And there are so may option that are absent from the general version. Example: If any employee want to use internet in there laptop outside of their office they need special permission from the office.

Otherwise they can not access internet. And without permission if anyone try to access something they will be fined and get warning. 3. 2. 2 Email Communication: Huawei is using IBM Lotus Notes for email communication purpose. Today’s business enterprises cannot survive or succeed without quality data about their internal operations and external environment. There are basically four types of Databases. • Operational Databases Distributed Databases • Hypermedia Databases • External Databases Huawei Technologies Ltd is using Operational Database & Distributed Database. By using this two database system Huawei gathered project related information. Operational Database system: Huawei uses Operational Database because in Data warehousing the operational database is one which is accessed by operational system to carry regular operations of an organization. Operational database usually uses an OLTP Database (Online Transaction Processing Database) which is optimized for faster transaction processing that is Inserting, Deleting and Updating data.

On the other side, Data warehouses use OLTP (Online Transaction Processing Database) Data bases which are optimized for faster queries. Operational Database is usually put on a separate machine from Data warehouse to increase performance. Distributed Database System: Huawei uses distributed database because, a distributed database is a database that is under the control of central database management system in which storage devices are not all attached to a common CPU (Central Processing Unit).

It may be stored in multiple computers located in the same physical location, or may be dispersed over a network of interconnected computers. 3. 3. 1 Database Management Packages: There are different types of Database Management Packages like: •Microsoft Access •Lotus Approach •Corel Paradox Huawei is using Oracle Database. This is a rational database management system (RDBMS) and officially called Oracle Database. This Database helps Huawei to satisfy the corporate customers. 3. 3. 2 Database Model: There are different types of Database model. •Hierarchical •Network •Relational •Multidimensional

Huawei is using Hierarchical Database and Multidimensional Database structure. 3. 3. 2. 1 Hirerchical Data Model: Huawei is using Hirerchal Data Model because, in a hierarchical data model, data is organized into a tree-like structure. The structure allows repeating information using parent/child relationships: each parent can have many children but each child only has one parent. All attributes of a specific record are listed under an entity type. In a database, an entity type is the equivalent of a table; each individual record is represented as a row and an attribute as a column. 3. 3. . 2Multidimensional Data Model: Huawei is using Multidimensional Data Model because in a Multi-dimensional database are especially useful in sales and marketing applications that involve time series. Large volumes of sales and inventory data can be stored to ultimately be used for logistics and executive planning. For example, data can be more readily segregated by sales region, product, or time period. There are some other In house customizing database software or system software that Huawei uses based on their different department and purposes. Some of those are given in the below chart. Abbreviation |System |Department/Purpose | |3ms |Online data base |Marketing department | |CMS |Contract Management System |Marketing department | |SPMS |Spare Parts Management system |After sales Service | |SCMS |Supply Chain Management System |Marketing department | |CRMS |Customer Relationship Management |Marketing department | |OCSDS |Logistics and support |Logistics department | |BMS |Bidding Management System |Bidding department | 3. 4 Huawei Telecommunications and Networks (Part 2): The basic idea of telecommunication is the exchange of information. The information may include voice, text, data, image and video. A telecommunications network is therefore a system which can provide these services to a number of end users. From the end users’ perspective, the network has some main tasks: • Make interconnection of end users possible Facilitate exchange of information in a form desired and suitable for their terminals • Send and receive signals to/from the end users to facilitate the establishment, maintenance and dismantling of connections • Provide additional services such as wake-up calls, billing information etc. Huawei Technologies Ltd is using different types of Telecommunications Networks. Example: • WAN • LAN • VPN • Client/Server Networks 3. 4. 1 WAN: Wan means Wide Area Network. Wan is a computer network that covers broad area. WANs are used to connect LANs and other types of networks together, so that users and computers in one location can communicate with users and computers in other locations.

Many WANs are built for one particular organization and are private. Others, built by Internet service providers, provide connections from an organization’s LAN to the Internet. Example: any network whose communications links cross metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries. 3. 4. 2 LAN: LAN means local-area network. A Local Area Network is a computer network covering a small geographic area, like a home, office, or groups of buildings e. g. a school. The defining characteristics of LANs, in contrast to wide-area networks (WANs), include their much higher data-transfer rates & smaller geographic range. 3. 4. 3 VPN: VPN means virtual Private Network.

VPN Is a communications network tunneled through another network, and dedicated for a specific network. Client/Server Networks: Client Server Networks is a computing architecture which separates a client from a server, and is almost always implemented over a computer network. A client-server application is a distributed system that constitutes of both client and server software. 4. Performance Evaluation: Huawei is maintaining excellent employee performance evaluation mechanism. Huawei is using “Key Performance Index” or KPI technique. The KPI is like a sort of Deming Wheel. “Key performance index” is totally online based system. Under the KPI technique, every employee of Huawei fill-up a form. Employees are Filling-up the form after every ending of three months or four quarter in a year by using internet. This form is called KPI. In KPI employees are fill-up their next three months plan, and also fill-up last 3 months working activities. After fill-up the KPI they get a result. They get the result from the Head Quarter based on the performance scale. |The scale limitations is 1 to 4 |Grade |Scale |Performance | |A |4 |Excellent | |B |3 |Good | |C |2 |Satisfactory | |D |1 |Need To Improvement | Table: Performance Evaluation scale. Analysis of the Scale: For example, in June an employee gets scale 4 or excellent result. That means his last 3 months performance was excellent. In ending of March he flied the KPI and that was given next 3 months plans or target, in June he get excellent result because he completed all the work based on the KPI plan. When an employee get scale 1 that means Need to improvement.

In Huawei technologies Bangladesh Limited, every employee is working under a supervisor. When an employee gets scale 1. His supervisor called him for meeting. [pic] Graph: Growth of company sales • Huawei Product Position in the Global Market: 1st position – Mobile Soft switch (2006) – MSAN (2006) – IP DSLAM (2006) – UMTS/HSDPA new contract-wins (2006) – Wireless CRBT (2006) 2nd position – Optical Network (2006) – CDMA2000 1xEV-DO new Contract-wins(2005) 3rd position – Service Provider Router (2006) 5. Recommendations: 1. Huawei is the market leader in network development sector of the Bangladeshi telecommunication field, especially for citycell but still the network is not up to the mark. Huawei needs to work more on this sector. 2.

Huawei is also a market leader for producing CDMA but the CDMA cell phones provided by them are not well profiled and featured enough. 3. As Huawei is a billion dollar company so we think all the customized software should be produced and developed in their in house department. 4. In the outer world Huawei leads the flag of China so we believe that it is their responsibility to remove the negative perception as to the product quality of China. 5. Though Huawei’s virtual security system is excellent but if there is any virtual war against the China then Huawei could be a massive target for the attacker. Hence, Huawei needs to remember this fact. 6. They need to come up with upgraded version of ZOOM. 6. Conclusion:

Citycell is the first mobile company not in Bangladesh but also in whole subcontinent and Huawei developed their telecommunication network so for quite a long time Huawei operates their action in Bangladesh. Though the telecommunication market of Bangladesh is not so big for Huawei but still it is a potential market. Moreover within 2025 Bangladesh could become middle income country so if they do not concentrate more on the market then there is a chance of losing the market share. To compete its rivals Huawei needs to come up with an innovative service delivery program for their corporate customers otherwise Ericsson would grab almost all the market share of the current market. 7.
